Hair cut again.

I had to cut my hair shorter. Apparently, my 1 week old hair cut was not acceptable. Catch my new haircut in tomorrow’s post.

What a find at the the old-school hair dresser…

My unit is so much more relaxed than during my time of service. Gone are the days when we have to fake being busy. Gone are the days when men are fearful of warrant officers. Gone are the days of stay-in personnel. Gone are the days when we have to work on Saturdays. Gone are the days of 2.5 years of service. Gone are the days of weekly arms and bunks inspection. Gone are the days when I was able to run 5 km. More insights into the Singapore Armed Forces.

Last day of civilian life

I have to report to camp tomorrow morning. It has been 4 years of life without regiment. I heard there was a raise in allowance for service personnel. Getting old. I have a feeling I’ll be the only 27 year old NSF in camp tomorrow.

Singapore River

Singapore River has changed so much since I left. The statue of Sir Stamford Raffles is still here though. Visited the Asian Civilization Museum.

Supermarket

Went shopping at a supermarket. Local produce here are slightly cheaper than the States but generally, groceries are more expensive because they are mostly imported.

National Museum

Visited the Singapore National Museum today. Here are my thoughts on it. I wish it was more a place for learning rather than a tourist attraction. I seemed to be walking through a haunted house (with interactive videos, and dark lighting) rather than a museum.

I was given a very high-tech navigation set, which I was a wonderful, but at the same time, the device was bulky and the interface design was user unfriendly.

Check out Kevin’s video of the museum.

Vivo City

Was at the Vivo City for a hair cut today. This picture was taken on the balcony overseeing Sentosa.

Vivo City reminded me of the Buffalo’s Walden Galleria, except it is newer. They had street performers in the mall itself and I find it amusing to see this……..

and this… there.

Esplanade

Visited the Esplanade today. The art library was awesome. They had a Peranakan (Straits born Chinese) awareness play at the center foyer. Nice…
